Shangri-La’s Silk Lakehouse Opens As Flagship Of New Ultra-Luxury Signatures Brand, Elevating Authentic Asian Hospitality
Shangri-La’s Silk Lakehouse opens as the flagship property of its new ultra-luxury Signatures brand, representing a bold step forward in redefining authentic Asian hospitality. Situated on the serene shores of Hangzhou’s West Lake, the hotel combines rich cultural heritage with modern sophistication to offer guests deeply personalized experiences rooted in local traditions. By integrating bespoke wellness programs, artisan crafts, and refined culinary offerings, The Silk Lakehouse elevates luxury travel beyond mere comfort—immersing visitors in the true spirit of Asian elegance and meaningful cultural connection.
As the flagship hotel of the Shangri-La Signatures portfolio, The Silk Lakehouse draws inspiration from the refined elegance of a traditional Jiangnan silk merchant’s residence. The design highlights exceptional craftsmanship throughout, most notably a dazzling crystal art installation in the lobby composed of nearly two thousand hand-blown Murano glass pieces. This impressive centerpiece sets a tone of sophisticated artistry and graceful charm that permeates the entire property.
The hotel occupies the historic site of the former Xiling Hotel, a renowned destination that once welcomed notable state guests. Respecting this heritage, The Silk Lakehouse incorporates preserved cultural treasures, including the famed Autumn in Yandang Mountain Ou sculpture from the early 1970s, symbolising the hotel’s deep-rooted connection to regional history and artistic expression.
