Thailand’s Songkran 2026 Set to Generate Over THB 30 Billion, Driving Tourism Growth
Thailand’s Songkran 2026 holiday is poised to set a new record, with projections indicating that it will generate over thirty billion THB in revenue. This growth reflects a surge in both domestic and international travel, with foreign visitors expected to contribute more than eight billion THB. The increase in tourism is attributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the Songkran celebrations, drawing tourists from across the globe and highlighting the country’s continued appeal as a top travel destination. This strong performance underscores Thailand’s resilience and its growing status as a key player in the global tourism market.
Thailand is set to achieve impressive financial returns during the Songkran holiday in 2026, with a projected revenue of over 30.35 billion THB (approximately US$931 million). This marks a 6% increase from the previous year, with foreign tourists contributing significantly to the total earnings.
During the five-day Songkran period from April 11 to April 15, approximately 500,000 international visitors are expected to arrive in the country. This influx of foreign tourists is anticipated to generate 8.1 billion THB, a 2% year-on-year increase. On the domestic front, Thailand’s travel scene will also witness a rise in activity, with 5.96 million domestic trips forecasted, representing a 7% increase. These domestic travelers are expected to contribute around 22.25 billion THB to the local economy, reflecting an 8% growth from last year.
