Indian Railways Adds Extra Trains Linking Bihar with Delhi and Bengaluru for Peak Season
Indian Railways has introduced new train services linking Bihar with Delhi and Bengaluru to handle the sharp rise in passenger demand during the peak summer season. With regular trains running full due to holiday travel and return journeys, these additional services aim to ease overcrowding and improve connectivity on some of the busiest long-distance routes.
These trains are not part of the regular timetable but have been introduced as a temporary measure to handle the surge. Every summer, the combination of family travel, student movement and work-related journeys leads to intense pressure on long-distance routes. Tickets on popular trains often sell out weeks in advance, leaving passengers scrambling for alternatives. By introducing these additional services, the railways is attempting to close that gap and make travel slightly more accessible during peak weeks.
The daily special train between New Delhi and Supaul, which began operations on April 17, is one of the key additions this season. This route connects the capital with north Bihar, a region that sees heavy passenger traffic during holidays. The train travels through a series of important junctions including Saharsa, Barauni, Hajipur, Ballia, Ghazipur and Varanasi, effectively serving a wide stretch of passengers along the route.
