Andhra Pradesh Unveils New Tourism Policy 2024–2029
In the contemporary landscape of global travel, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-2029 has been introduced as a definitive roadmap for regional development. This strategic initiative is designed to transition the state away from conventional visitation models toward a more profound, experience-driven methodology. By the Government of Andhra Pradesh, a clear emphasis is placed on the Swarna Andhra Tourism Vision 2047, which seeks to integrate cultural depth with modern luxury and accessibility. Through this framework, the state is positioned as a premier destination where the hospitality and tourism sector is treated with the same economic weightage as core industries.
Significant attention is directed toward the diversification of activities that appeal to both international and domestic markets. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has articulated a vision where the state’s natural assets, such as the long coastline and the rugged Eastern Ghats, are leveraged to create high-value interactions. It is intended that the Gross Value Added (GVA) contributed by this sector will be significantly increased, ensuring that the local economy is fortified by the arrival of high-spending travelers seeking unique, authentic engagements with the heritage and landscape of the region.
Under the new guidelines, the tourism sector is officially granted industry status. This administrative shift is intended to facilitate a more robust investment ecosystem. Fiscal incentives, including 100% reimbursement of stamp duty and land conversion charges, are provided to encourage the development of world-class infrastructure. A target has been established to attract private investments worth ₹25,000 crore over the policy period. By doing so, it is anticipated that employment opportunities for over 20% of the state’s workforce will be generated, fostering a sustainable socioeconomic environment.
