Vietnam’s Aviation Sector Surges with Over One Million Holiday Passenger
Vietnam’s travel and aviation sectors have witnessed an extraordinary surge, with over 1.68 million passengers traveling during the combined holiday periods of Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and May Day. This remarkable increase reflects a resilient recovery in both domestic and international air travel, driven by strong demand as tourism and business activities rebound. The surge highlights the nation’s ongoing recovery from pandemic-induced challenges, alongside increased consumer confidence, improved flight operations, and greater connectivity, particularly for international routes. The significant growth in both passenger numbers and cargo volumes underscores Vietnam’s aviation sector as a key player in the regional travel landscape.
Vietnam’s aviation industry has seen remarkable growth during the combined holiday period of Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and May Day, with a total of 1.68 million passengers traveling between April 25 and May 3, marking a 2.2% increase from the previous year. This surge in passenger numbers highlights a resilient recovery in the aviation sector as it continues to rebound from the disruptions caused by the pandemic.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) reported a significant uptick in both passenger traffic and cargo throughput during this peak travel period. Total cargo throughput reached 27,450 tonnes, reflecting a healthy year-on-year growth of 7.2%, signaling a strong recovery in the transport of goods.
