Europe: Slovenia And Serbia Outshine Traditional Hotspots As Travel Shift Grows

Travel isn’t about the movement, travel is the satisfaction of the spirit of adventure. When you see your next destination over the next horizon, it just motivates you to keep going. More than ever this past year I’ve been drawn to travel to Europe. The first half of 2020 saw a reported 1.7% increase in international travel and associated accommodation data with a confirmed uptick in travel and travel memory creation in the EU for all member states. The travel statistics that came out of Serbia and Slovenia were strong and showed the most travelers coming to see and fall in love with both of those countries. Croatia saw a small growth mirrored by a 0.5% increase in overnight travelers. Even greater travel activity occurred in other neighboring countries. Travel statistics in Europe have been impressive because they show travel growth in Central and Southeast Europe. The European Union Tourism Sector Experiences a Modest Overall Expansion in Overnight Stays During the First Half of the Year Statistical assessments revealed that overnight accommodation figures across the European Union grew by 1.7% during the initial six months of the calendar year compared to the exact same period from the prior year. This steady metric demonstrated that travel demand across Europe remained resilient despite inflationary pressures and rising transportation costs. Analysts noted that cross-border international arrivals served as the primary growth engine, expanding at nearly three times the rate of domestic overnight stays.
