Global Tourism Heads for a Record 1.57 Billion Arrivals in 2026.
The international tourism industry is set for yet another record-breaking year in 2026, when the number of international tourists is estimated to break through the barrier of 1.57 billion even with unstable political environment and increasing costs of air tickets. According to the recently released WTM Global Travel Report 2026, produced jointly by World Travel Market London and Tourism Economics, international tourism continues to grow.
According to the report, international overnight arrivals are projected to increase by 2% compared with 2025, while spending by international visitors is expected to climb 6% to approximately US$1.8 trillion. Although these figures suggest another record-breaking year, they also reveal a noticeable slowdown in the pace of tourism expansion.
