Vietnam has recently established itself as the third-most-visited country in Southeast Asia, surpassing Singapore with a remarkable 17.5 million international arrivals in 2024. Thailand and Malaysia remain ahead of Vietnam, with Thailand leading the region with 35 million visitors, while Malaysia recorded 25 million international arrivals. This shift has been a clear signal of Vietnam’s emerging popularity as a top destination for international travelers. Vietnam’s Impressive Recovery and Growth Vietnam’s tourism sector is not only growing but recovering at an unprecedented rate. It is now considered the fastest-growing tourism destination in Southeast Asia, having recovered 98% of its pre-pandemic tourism activity. In comparison, Thailand and Singapore have only managed to recover 87.5% and 86% of their pre-pandemic tourism levels, respectively. The remarkable recovery of Vietnam underscores its strong appeal in a post-pandemic world. This upward trend in Vietnam’s tourism sector continues, with a significant surge in international visitors. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism reported that nearly 4 million international tourists visited Vietnam in the first two months of 2025, reflecting a 30.2% year-over-year increase in arrivals compared to the same period in 2024. The country’s robust recovery highlights its potential to further challenge the more established tourism giants in the region.
