Etihad Airways Enhances Long-Haul Capability With Sixth Airbus A350 Delivery

Etihad Airways takes a major step in expanding its global fleet with the delivery of its sixth Airbus A350, boosting long-haul capabilities and international reach. Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, proudly announced the arrival of its sixth Airbus A350 aircraft on Monday, further expanding its fleet. The latest addition touched down in Abu Dhabi this weekend after a successful delivery flight from Toulouse, France. This summer, Etihad plans to launch A350 services to Atlanta, marking it as the airline’s sixth North American destination and part of its broader expansion, which includes 16 new routes scheduled for this year. The Airbus A350 is a state-of-the-art, long-haul, twin-engine jetliner celebrated for its fuel efficiency, thanks to its construction featuring more than 50% composite materials in its airframe. The A350 family encompasses models such as the A350-900 and A350-1000, with seating for 300 to 400 passengers, positioning it as a strong competitor to Boeing’s 777 and 787 aircraft. Despite the A350’s overall success, its deliveries have encountered challenges, primarily due to ongoing global supply chain disruptions. Shortages of engines and other essential components have hindered Airbus’s ability to meet its delivery targets, forcing the company to revise its forecast for 2024. Recent reports suggest that these supply chain issues will continue to impact A350 production, with delays expected in the delivery of the A350 freighter variant, potentially extending until 2027.
