W Hotels Debut in Italy, Bringing Luxury to Florence

W Hotels has debuted its new Italian flagship, W Florence, in Tuscany’s capital city. Situated in Piazza dell’Unità Italiana, W Florence is nestled in the historic Grand Hotel Majestic building, originally developed in 1968 by architect Lando Bartoli. W Florence debuted as W Hotels expands throughout Europe, following 2021’s launch of W Rome. The new hotel further cements W Hotels’ Italian presence as a leading hotel company and a champion of fulfilling a new world of global explorers’ cravings: local immersions, electric environments, and signature worldly sophistication that allows them to be themselves. The restoration of the Grand Hotel Majestic was handled by the renowned Italian architecture firm Genius Loci Architettura (GLA), in line with modern sustainability standards. The building has been redesigned to meet LEED Gold and WELL Silver certifications, ensuring that environmental and wellness considerations were prioritized during its transformation. Global design firm AvroKO, famous for its work on W Prague and the upcoming W Hoboken, worked on the interiors, bringing a contemporary touch to the hotel’s vibrant history. The design of W Florence is a stunning blend of historical elements and modern design. The firm AvroKO infused the interiors with references to the fashion-forward sensibility of the 1960s and 1970s, capturing Florence’s creative energy and artistic history. The bold use of colors, geometric patterns, and luxurious materials enhances the hotel’s chic aesthetic while paying homage to Italy’s cultural heritage. Guests will be immersed in an atmosphere that blends the old and the new, reflecting the dynamic energy of Florence.
