SkyWest Airlines Opens New Maintenance Facility at Salina Regional Airport
SkyWest Airlines is expanding its operational footprint with the addition of a new maintenance facility at Salina Regional Airport in Kansas. Scheduled to open in early spring 2026, this new base will become the 14th maintenance hub in SkyWest’s extensive network, further solidifying its position as the world’s largest regional airline. The facility will serve as a crucial point for maintaining and servicing SkyWest’s fleet of over 500 aircraft.
SkyWest, with a fleet larger than that of major international airlines like Ryanair, China Eastern, Southwest, and Delta, plays a significant role in the regional aviation sector. It operates a variety of aircraft, including the Bombardier CRJ series and Embraer E175, under several well-known regional brands such as Alaska Horizon, Delta Connection, American Eagle, and United Express. This new maintenance base in Salina is set to support the airline’s ongoing operations, focusing on keeping its fleet in prime condition for commercial service.
SkyWest’s decision to open its 14th maintenance base at Salina Regional Airport reflects the airline’s growing operations and commitment to enhancing its service capabilities. The facility, which will be operational by spring 2026, will play a key role in maintaining the airline’s fleet, particularly the Bombardier CRJ aircraft. Salina Regional Airport currently serves United Express, with flights connecting the city to major hubs like Chicago O’Hare, Denver, and Houston, all operated with SkyWest’s regional airliners.
