Thailand Targets 36 Million Visitors and ₿3 Trillion Revenue in Its 2026 Tourism Vision
Thailand is set to achieve ambitious tourism goals by 2026, aiming for 36 million international visitors and 3 trillion baht in revenue. This growth strategy focuses on expanding the wellness, sustainable travel, and niche market segments, enhancing the country’s global competitiveness. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is implementing innovative campaigns and strategies, such as the “Amazing 5 Economy” framework, to attract high-value tourists, foster long-term sustainability, and elevate the country’s appeal as a top global destination.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is launching several campaigns aimed at attracting 36.7 million international visitors and 210 million domestic trips in 2026, setting a goal of generating 3 trillion baht in revenue. This comes after Thailand wrapped up 2025 with 32.97 million foreign visitors, marking a 7.23% decline from the previous year. This dip in numbers was attributed to the shifting travel patterns amid global economic and geopolitical pressures. However, the tourism sector still contributed a substantial 2.7 trillion baht to the economy, showing resilience despite the challenges.
While short-haul markets like China experienced a notable contraction, Thailand saw significant growth in long-haul tourism, reaching a record of over 10.8 million visitors, marking a 10.64% increase from the prior year. This surge was driven by the United Kingdom and the United States, indicating that long-haul tourism continues to thrive. Domestically, the tourism sector also saw positive results, with Thai citizens making 202 million domestic trips in 2025, up 2.7% compared to the previous year.
