The Atal Tunnel and Sinthan Top were the epicentres of this disaster, where over one thousand vehicles were immobilised by snow accumulation, leaving visitors stranded for up to twenty hours. These harsh conditions triggered a massive rescue operation, with local authorities working tirelessly to clear the roads and bring people to safety. The intense weather, coupled with the remote location of these areas, highlights the vulnerability of mountain travel and the importance of timely intervention in such extreme conditions. Severe weather conditions in the northern states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir have caused significant disruptions for travelers, with numerous tourists finding themselves stranded in remote mountain regions due to intense snowfall. The heavy snowstorms caused widespread disruption, particularly in Himachal Pradesh’s Atal Tunnel and Jammu & Kashmir’s Sinthan Top, where more than 1,000 vehicles and 235 people were stranded. This led to extensive rescue efforts from local authorities, military units, and road management teams.
