Hong Kong and Mainland China Drive Macau’s Tourism Surge Past 10 Million Visitors

Macau’s tourism sector is experiencing an unprecedented boom in 2026, as the city welcomed its 10 millionth visitor nearly two weeks earlier than in 2025, setting the stage for a record-breaking year. This surge in arrivals is driven by a strong influx of visitors from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and international markets, highlighting the city’s diverse appeal and growing global recognition. With a 14% increase in visitor numbers compared to last year, Macau’s thriving entertainment scene, strategic location, and resilient post-pandemic recovery have solidified its position as a premier destination in Asia, poised to surpass its previous record of 40.06 million visitors by year-end. In the first 80 days of 2026, Macau has seen an average of about 126,000 visitors per day, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The early achievement of 10 million visitors demonstrates the city’s remarkable pace of recovery, positioning it on track for yet another record-breaking year. If the current trends continue, Macau is poised to surpass its 2025 total visitor count by the end of 2026.
