Taiwan, Vietnam, and South Korea Lead Asia’s Kitchen-Ready Stay Trend
Taiwan has emerged as the front-runner in Asia’s latest travel trend, with travelers increasingly prioritizing accommodations that include a kitchen. As part of Agoda’s 2026 travel insights, it has been revealed that 14% of Taiwanese travelers actively search for kitchen-equipped properties, leading the pack in this growing movement. Following Taiwan closely are Vietnam and South Korea, with 13% and 12% of their travelers, respectively, making similar accommodation choices.
This shift reflects a growing desire among Asian travelers for flexibility and the comfort of preparing their own meals during their travels. For many, having access to a kitchen while on vacation is no longer a luxury but an essential part of their accommodation preferences. From preparing local dishes to catering to dietary needs or simply enjoying home-cooked meals, the kitchen offers a unique sense of freedom and comfort.
The influence of food in travel plans cannot be overstated. As Asia’s culinary culture continues to rise in global prominence, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and South Korean travelers are not only seeking to experience new culinary delights but also to incorporate cooking into their travel journey. The freedom to cook in one’s accommodation opens up opportunities to engage with local ingredients, cook traditional meals, and fully immerse oneself in the destination’s food culture.
