The simplified entry rules are making Finland more accessible to international visitors, encouraging stronger inbound travel, increasing tourism revenues, and reinforcing the country’s position as a leading European destination for leisure, business, and seasonal tourism throughout the year.

Finland’s international tourist arrivals are continuing to rise in 2026, supported by a 7.1% increase in early-year visitors and strong demand for “coolcation” travel. After a record 2025 that welcomed 5.1 million foreign tourists, key destinations such as Helsinki, Rovaniemi and Finnish Lapland are reporting sharp growth, particularly from long-haul markets. Indian arrivals have surged by 52%, while Asia-Pacific source markets are playing an increasingly significant role in driving inbound tourism.

Finland’s economy in 2026 is projected to record a nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of about $337 billion. The country is expected to see a gradual recovery, with real GDP growth forecast to accelerate to between 0.6% and 1.0%. At the same time, GDP per capita is estimated to reach approximately $60,130, reflecting steady economic performance and improving productivity levels.
