Ladakh Gets India's Record-Breaking Wildlife Safari Launch
Ladakh is expected to draw international wildlife tourism as its new Ladakh Wildlife Safari offers conservation-based experiences for travelers to view the rare snow leopard and experience the pristine Himalayas. The high-altitude safari will take a new approach to adventure in the mountain wilderness of India with eco-tourism, adventure, and wildlife safaris, and generate additional opportunities for the local community. Ladakh is home to unique geography and bio-diversity, and is ready to present a natural experience the like of which few other places have to offer in the world.
Ladakh is preparing to create a powerful new chapter in India’s wildlife tourism story with the launch of the country’s first high-altitude wildlife safari. The Himalayan region is set to offer travellers a rare opportunity to explore snow leopard habitats, discover unique mountain wildlife and experience one of the world’s most fragile ecosystems through responsible eco-tourism.
The initiative by the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh aims to combine wildlife conservation, adventure tourism and local community development. The safari will focus on the region’s high-altitude landscapes, where rare animals survive in extreme conditions. It will also strengthen efforts to protect Ladakh’s iconic snow leopard population while creating new tourism opportunities.
