Vietnam’s Quang Phu Tourism Competition Promotes Sustainable Coastal Travel

Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing travel destinations by investing in community-based tourism that celebrates local culture, traditional livelihoods, and authentic visitor experiences. A major milestone has now emerged from Quang Phu Ward, where the “Coastal Community Tourism Development Initiative Linked to Sustainable Livelihoods – Quang Phu 2026” competition has identified innovative tourism projects designed to transform the coastal destination into a vibrant community tourism hub. The initiative highlights how local knowledge, cultural heritage, and environmental sustainability can work together to create memorable tourism experiences while improving economic opportunities for residents. The competition attracted dozens of creative proposals focused on expanding tourism products, promoting traditional crafts, enhancing digital tourism services, and strengthening connections between local businesses and travelers. Two outstanding projects secured first prize and will now receive implementation support, funding opportunities, professional training, and strategic partnerships. By encouraging locally driven tourism innovation, Quang Phu aims to increase visitor stays, boost tourism spending, preserve cultural identity, and establish itself as a model destination for sustainable coastal tourism in central Vietnam. The “Coastal Community Tourism Development Initiative Linked to Sustainable Livelihoods – Quang Phu 2026” competition attracted 27 innovative tourism proposals that explored new ways of promoting the coastal destination while protecting its cultural and environmental heritage.
