Air India Launches Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Mumbai-London Route

Air India has upgraded one of its two daily Mumbai–London Heathrow services by deploying a purpose-built Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from 1 July 2026, giving passengers a new three-class cabin, dedicated Premium Economy, Business suites and a significantly refreshed Economy experience. Flights AI131 and AI130 now use the new aircraft, while the second daily service continues with an upgraded Boeing 777-300ER that retains First Class. The change matters because it brings Air India’s newest long-haul product to a high-demand corridor serving corporate travellers, holidaymakers, students, visiting friends and relatives, and the wider Indian diaspora. The 296-seat Dreamliner carries 30 Business Class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats. Every cabin receives the Thales AVANT Up entertainment platform, high-definition screens, Bluetooth headphone pairing and modern charging options. Premium Economy introduces a wider 2-3-2 layout with a 38-inch pitch, while Business Class provides direct aisle access and fully flat beds extending to around 79 inches. Air India has also added Indian-inspired materials, updated meals and serviceware, redesigned amenity products and ten mood-lighting scenes influenced by traditional wellness concepts.
