Europe's Holiday Market Gets a Major Boost as Luxair, Ryanair and easyJet Add New Routes
Luxair’s ambitious 2026 network expansion, which adds nine new destinations and grows its Luxembourg Airport network to 101 destinations, reflects a wider European aviation trend: airlines are aggressively expanding short-haul leisure routes to Mediterranean beaches, island destinations, regional cities and emerging holiday markets.
The Luxembourg flag carrier will introduce new services to Alicante, Girona, Bilbao, Edinburgh, Helsinki, Tunis, Zakynthos, Araxos (Patras) and Porto Santo during the 2026 programme. However, Luxair is not alone. Several European airlines are following a similar strategy by adding overlapping destinations and competing for the same leisure travellers.
