Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport Gets a Smart Immigration Upgrade to Fast-Track Tourist Arrivals
Thailand advances smart immigration at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in order to decrease queuing times and expedite arrivals. A substantial improvement in the total time taken to process the arrival of visitors is expected when a series of measures are implemented by Thailand to resolve queue issues and improve the overall arrival experience for international visitors. An improvement in airport services is made necessary due to an increase in passengers, especially in the afternoon peak hours when many thousands of visitors to the country pass through Suvarnabhumi International Airport every hour.
As one of Southeast Asia’s busiest aviation gateways, Suvarnabhumi Airport currently welcomes around 70,000 arriving passengers daily. During peak hours between 1 pm and 5 pm, passenger flows can reach nearly 6,000 arrivals every hour, creating congestion at immigration checkpoints and increasing waiting times for travellers.
