Mumbai Sawantwadi Express Opens Direct Access to South Konkan
India’s new travel revolution begins as the Mumbai-Sawantwadi Express strengthens direct access to South Konkan destinations by creating a daily rail connection between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Sawantwadi Road. The service is expected to improve passenger movement, support tourism growth in destinations such as Sawantwadi, Amboli and Tarkarli, and provide easier connectivity for travellers, traders and local communities across the Konkan region.
The launch of the new Mumbai-Sawantwadi Express has created a major rail connection between Maharashtra’s capital city and the scenic South Konkan region. Starting from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), the daily train service is expected to improve travel access for passengers heading towards important destinations including Kankavli, Kudal and Sawantwadi. The new railway link is also set to support tourism growth in popular coastal and nature destinations such as Tarkarli, Amboli and areas near the Maharashtra-Goa border.
