Goa’s Dabolim Airport handles 22,000 passengers in a day with 72 flights

Dabolim Airport director Gagan Malik said that the domestic market form a major part of the tourists arriving in the state. Speaking further, Malik said that the passenger footfall at Dabolim airport is increasing steadily. “On December 27, Dabolim airport handled nearly 22,000 passengers with record of handling 72 flights. A similar trend was witnessed on December 28 and it is expected to continue in the coming days due to the festivities,” he said. He said that a new sector will be connected to Goa very soon. “During COVID-19 pandemic, more and more sectors have been added to Goa. Reputations of old sectors prevailed and new sectors have been added by different airlines and will continue to add in the near future,” Malik said. He also informed that the air bubble arrangements now have been extended till March 2021. “Air Arabia has taken slots from us in the air bubble and the Airports Authority of India (AA I) has approved slots to them, except UK. The flights coming from Middle East will be operating,” said Malik. Meanwhile, the airport director stated that the airport has been decorated and illuminated in view of Christmas and New Year celebrations. “We adopt all the SOPs while handling passengers at the airport. People are waiting to come to Goa. Goa has remained safe as it was,” said Malik.
