A new place to explore : Govt. plans ‘nature paths’ in Chamba to boost tourism
In a move to attract more tourists to less-explored Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the state government recently proposed that trekking routes will be developed there under the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme.
Chamba, known for its scenic locations and natural beauty, will in the near future have trekking routes developed to woo more travellers in this region. The trek routes will be promoted as ‘nature paths,’ and it is hoped that this initiative will attract more income and business to villages in Chamba. Latest reports suggest that there are also plans to popularise home stays in these Chamba villages from where the nature paths will pass through. The tourism authorities will also lend a helping hand to the villagers to help them turn their homes into comfortable home stays.
