Alstom Partners with Deutsche Bahn to Upgrade Germany’s Rail Control Systems!

Alstom, a global pioneer in sustainable mobility, has entered a groundbreaking partnership with Deutsche Bahn to accelerate the digitalisation of Germany’s railway infrastructure. This long-term framework agreement, valued at over €600 million, outlines the deployment of at least 1,890 digital interlocking systems, marking a significant step in modernising the nation’s rail operations. The project will unfold in multiple phases, with the initial implementation set to begin in the first quarter of 2025. Subsequent calls will take place between 2025 and 2028, ensuring a structured rollout of advanced rail technology. Alstom’s work under this agreement will extend through 2032, providing Deutsche Bahn with a reliable and strategic roadmap for the transition to next-generation rail control systems. “Deutsche Bahn is taking a big step in digitalising the German rail network. We are proud that they are relying on Alstom’s digital interlocking as well as train control and safety technology,” said Tim Dawidowsky, President of the Central and Northern Europe region at Alstom. “A long-term framework agreement with a fixed scope is the basis for maximum success in implementing the Digital Rail Germany initiative. Alstom will make an important contribution to this success.”
