Saudi Arabia has emerged as a dominant force in global sports tourism, welcoming 2.5 million sports tourists over the past four years while hosting 80 international sporting events. This rapid evolution aligns with Vision 2030, the country’s transformative initiative aimed at diversifying its economy and positioning itself as a premier destination for major global events, according to Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Al-Khateeb highlighted Saudi Arabia’s rising prominence in the $800 billion global sports tourism industry, which now represents 10% of worldwide tourism spending and is projected to expand by 17.5% by 2030.
