Manchester Airport Unveils First-Ever Direct Route To India

Manchester Airport is set to introduce a groundbreaking direct flight to India, marking a significant milestone as the first airport in northern England to establish a non-stop connection with the country. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, revealed on March 6 that it will be expanding its international network with two brand-new European routes—one from Manchester and another from Amsterdam. This expansion signifies IndiGo’s debut in direct connectivity with European destinations. The airline plans to operate the Manchester-India service three times per week starting in July 2025, pending the successful completion of regulatory clearances and operational readiness. Manchester Airport officials have expressed enthusiasm for the newly announced route, highlighting its role in strengthening the airport’s status as one of Europe’s rapidly expanding aviation hubs. This development coincides with a landmark year for the airport, as its extensive £1.3 billion redevelopment nears completion. The transformation will culminate in the full-scale opening of the state-of-the-art Terminal 2, enhancing the passenger experience and boosting connectivity.
