Good News! You Can Now Travel From Dharamshala to Mcleodganj in 5 Minutes

We all like things to get done in 5 minutes. This, Dharamshala now offers! You can now travel in a new ropeway route from Mcleodganj which is inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The new ropeway is called Dharamshala Skyway. The length is around 1.8 kilometres and cost approximately Rs 200 crore. The ropeway brings in a scenic aerial view from Mcleodganj to Dharamshala. If you take Khara Danda Road, it takes around 21 minutes to Dharmashala from Mcleodganj. How Many Persons Can The Ropeway Carry? The ropeway can carry 1000 persons per hour. As per CM Thakur, in 2018, the construction of the Dharamshala-Mcleodganj ropeway began. Under DFBOT (design, finance, build, operate, transfer) mode, the development took place. It was built using mono cable detachable gondola technology. This was a public-private partnership projected started by Himachal Pradesh tourism, Dharamshala Ropeway Limited and the civil aviation department. What is The Cost of Ropeway Travel? For one-way, the ropeway costs Rs 300 and for two-ways, the ropeway costs Rs 500. This ropeway puts the traffic between Dharamshala and Mcleodganj at ease. This route has total 10 towers. It is an eco-friendly solution to promote different modes of transport. There are different ropeway projects underway. Some of them are Andhra Pradesh’s Gandikota, Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park and Karnataka’s Jog Falls.

Major change announced for testing requirements for international arrivals in Australia

Travellers arriving in Australia from overseas will no longer need to show proof of a negative PCR to enter the country, the government has announced. Currently, people coming to Australia need to have a PCR test within three days of their departing flight. But from Sunday, that rule will be scrapped. Instead, travellers will need proof of a negative rapid antigen test within 24 hours of departure. Health Minister Greg Hunt made the announcement on Friday afternoon in a joint statement with Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews. “While PCR tests remain the gold standard test, a RAT within 24 hours is an acceptable indicator of whether a traveller has COVID-19 before flying to Australia,” the ministers said. “This is consistent with moves within Australia to accept RATs for diagnostic purposes.” In addition, the time between receiving a positive COVID test result and being cleared for travel to Australia will be reduced from 14 days to seven days. “This will reduce wait times for travellers who contract COVID-19 overseas to return to Australia in line with the new domestic isolation requirements,” the ministers said. Currently, only Australian citizens and permanent residents, their families and those with certain visas or an exemption are allowed to travel to Australia.

Air India to commence normal operations to US from today

New Delhi: National carrier Air India will commence normal operations to US from Friday, the airline said. On Tuesday, the national carrier said that it will not be able to operate a number of US-bound flights due to the deployment of 5G communications in the US. As per industry insiders, the 5G network technology might cause certain crucial flight instruments to malfunction. The airline informed passengers via its official Twitter handle: "#FlyAI : Flight operations to/from destinations in USA were affected during last two days. "We would like to inform our passengers traveling to/from destinations in the USA that effective 0001hrs of 21st January 2022 normal flights operations will recommence to/from USA." Earlier in the day, Boeing had cleared AI to operate to the US on Boeing 777 aircraft. Accordingly, the first Air India flight left from New Delhi to JFK airport on Thursday morning. Besides, Air India is expected to operate other flights to Chicago and San Francisco. "Arrangements to carry stranded passengers are being worked out," the airline said. The US air transport regulator, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has been concerned that a version of 5G could interfere with some airplane instruments. Earlier, aviation industry groups had shared those fears. This is despite reassurances from federal telecom regulators and well as wireless carriers. Specifically, the FAA has been worried that 5G cellular antennas near some airports - not air mobile devices - could throw off readings from some aircraft equipment designed to tell pilots how far they are from the ground. The systems, radar altimeters, are used throughout a flight and are considered critical. At present, Air India operates to 5 destinations in the US.

Delhi: DDMA releases new Covid guidelines. Details here

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday released new Covid guidelines for the national capital and clarified that night and week-end curfew will also remain in force till further orders. In its order, the authority said that night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am everyday and weekend curfew from 10 pm of Friday till 5 am of subsequent Monday, on movement of individuals in Delhi shall remain in force till further order.
