Singapore Faces Travel Costs, Focuses on Memorable Experiences

Singaporeans remain highly enthusiastic about travel in the year ahead, prioritizing wellness, cultural experiences, and adventure despite rising costs and economic challenges. Their strong focus on rest and relaxation, combined with a growing emphasis on travel insurance and safety, reflects a thoughtful and prepared approach to exploring both regional and domestic destinations. The Allianz Partners Travel Index conducted a recent survey of more than five hundred Singaporean adults to gain insights into their upcoming travel plans and vacation preferences for the next year. The findings reveal that travel remains a top priority for Singaporeans, with an overwhelming ninety percent planning to embark on trips within the next twelve months. However, the rising cost of living is clearly impacting travel decisions, as seventy-three percent of those who do not plan to travel cite financial constraints as the main obstacle. About seventy-four percent of respondents intend to focus their vacations on resort stays and wellness experiences, highlighting a desire to unwind and recharge. Cultural exploration is the second most popular reason for travel, attracting half of those surveyed, while adventure-seeking ranks third, appealing to forty-three percent of travelers. These priorities align closely with broader regional trends across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, where sixty-five percent travel to rest and relax, fifty percent seek cultural experiences, and forty percent pursue adventure activities.

Air India has launched dedicated ‘Family Assistance’ counters to provide support services to passengers travelling with family members, including children, elderly passengers, and those who require special assistance. Currently available at Delhi airport, this new initiative offers a one-stop solution for passengers who may require support with their baggage, seats, or even wheelchair assistance. Passengers can seek support for specific requirements, such as last-minute special assistance, including wheelchair provision for a member with reduced mobility (that was not requisitioned for during booking), or requesting seats close to each other (depending on seat availability if these were not blocked together during booking). By offering focused support, the initiative helps facilitate a smooth check-in process and prompt baggage handling, thereby minimising wait time and enhancing the on-ground experience.
