Vietnam’s Tourism Industry Soars With An Astonishing 1.43 Million International Visitors In August

Vietnam recorded an impressive influx of 1.43 million international tourists in August, reflecting a 17.7% year-on-year surge, as reported by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Vietnam has seen a remarkable increase in foreign tourism over the first eight months of this year, receiving more than 11.4 million international visitors. This figure represents a notable 45.8% increase from the previous year, highlighting the country’s growing appeal as a global travel destination. Vietnam’s tourism resurgence can be attributed to a combination of factors, including its rich cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and strategic efforts to enhance its international tourism offerings. The Asian market continues to dominate as Vietnam’s largest source of international tourists, with over 9 million visitors arriving from the region. This represents a significant 51% year-on-year increase, showcasing the enduring popularity of Vietnam among neighboring countries. Asian tourists are drawn to Vietnam’s diverse attractions, from its bustling cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the tranquil beauty of destinations like Ha Long Bay and the Mekong Delta. In addition to the influx from Asia, the European and Oceania markets also contributed significantly to Vietnam’s tourism growth. Visitors from Europe and Oceania have shown a steady rise, reflecting an increased interest in Vietnam’s unique blend of history, culture, and modernity. Meanwhile, the American market, although smaller in comparison, continues to grow, as more travelers from North and South America seek to explore Vietnam’s renowned destinations. Even Africa has shown promising growth, albeit from a smaller base. One of the most notable trends in Vietnam’s tourism recovery is the dominance of air travel. Out of the 11.4 million international visitors, 9.7 million arrived by air, accounting for 84.7% of the total. This represents a 41% year-on-year increase in air passengers, signifying the growing importance of Vietnam’s major international airports, such as Noi Bai in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City. The country’s expanding airline network, coupled with improved flight connectivity, has made it easier for tourists from all over the world to access Vietnam’s top attractions. Land travel has also seen significant growth, with 1.6 million visitors arriving by road, making up 13.8% of the total. This represents a remarkable 73% year-on-year rise in land-based tourism, driven by Vietnam’s strategic location in Southeast Asia. Its land borders with China, Laos, and Cambodia have allowed for greater cross-border travel, particularly from neighboring countries. This trend reflects the increased accessibility and appeal of Vietnam as a regional tourism hub. Sea travel, although accounting for a smaller proportion of total arrivals, has experienced the most dramatic growth. A total of 165,600 visitors arrived in Vietnam by sea, representing just 1.5% of total tourists but marking a 2.8-fold increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in sea travel is attributed to the growing popularity of cruise tourism in Vietnam, with major ports like Da Nang and Ha Long becoming key stopovers for international cruise ships. Several factors have contributed to Vietnam’s impressive tourism growth. One of the key drivers has been the country’s favorable visa policies, which have made it easier for international travelers to visit. Vietnam has introduced e-visas and visa exemptions for tourists from various countries, simplifying the process for visitors and boosting the overall appeal of the destination. These policy changes have played a crucial role in attracting more foreign tourists to Vietnam. In addition to visa facilitation, Vietnam has intensified its tourism promotion efforts on the global stage. The government, in collaboration with private enterprises, has launched numerous campaigns to showcase the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Vietnam’s participation in international tourism expos and its growing digital presence have enhanced its visibility, encouraging more travelers to include Vietnam in their travel plans. Vietnam’s growing reputation as a world-class tourist destination has also been bolstered by a series of prestigious international awards. The country has been recognized for its cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes, and hospitality, winning accolades that have further elevated its status in the global tourism industry. These awards have not only validated Vietnam’s efforts to improve its tourism infrastructure but also positioned it as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking unique experiences. As Vietnam continues to recover from the impact of the global pandemic, the country’s tourism industry is well on its way to achieving new milestones. With ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, enhance the visitor experience, and promote the country’s diverse offerings, Vietnam is poised to attract even more international tourists in the coming years, reinforcing its position as one of Asia’s top travel destinations.

Every year, lakhs of people travel to their hometowns to celebrate these festivals with their families. It leads to a huge rush in the need for transportation. In response to this high demand, Indian Railways has decided to introduce special trains to serve over one crore (10 million) passengers during this period. Some of the routes with highest demand during these festivals are mainly those leading to states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal as these destinations are the hubs for the celebration. Durga Puja, one of the prime Indian festivals, will begin on October 6, followed by Diwali on November 1, and Chhath Puja on November 7 and 8. However, the exact routes, dates, and timings for these trains have not yet been officially announced. But Indian Railways has already indicated plans to enhance the travel experience for passengers. Along with the introduction of these special trains, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the number of general coaches will be increased for 108 regular trains on popular routes. Minister Vaishnaw also said that these trains will greatly benefit passengers, with the extra trains and coaches facilitating the movement of over one crore travellers. Indian Railways has already announced the deployment of 5,975 special trains for this season. For comparison, last year saw the operation of 4,429 special trains during the festive period, highlighting the increase in capacity this year. For Diwali and Chhath Puja, an additional 12,500 coaches will be provided, ensuring a more comfortable and accessible journey.
