JAMMU TOURISM PARTICIPATES IN 3-DAY LONG INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL MART IN MUMBAI

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department participated in three day long India International Travel Mart (IITM) Mumbai at Nehru Centre Worli Mumbai from 12th of October, to showcase various tourism products of Jammu and Kashmir. The Tourism department was represented by CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority, Tariq Hussain and Tourist Officer, Mumbai, Bashir Ahmad Wani. Various tourism stakeholders and travel trade operators from Jammu and Kashmir also participated in the travel mart. During the mart, the J&K Pavilion witnessed huge foot fall of stakeholders and representative of various states, enquiring about various tourism products of Jammu and Kashmir. In the sidelines of the travel mart, some prominent travel trade groups based in Maharashtra held detailed interactions with representatives of J&K Tourism department who assured them of promoting MICE, GOLF and Film Tourism keeping in view huge tourism potential. The trade groups also praised the LG Administration and Tourism Department for taking keen interest to provide support for hassle-free mechanism in place to attract all type of tourists in the Jammu and Kashmir. Last year, J&K Tourism broke all previous records by receiving more than 1.88 crore visitors and this year around 1.33 crore visitors were witnessed in first 7 months and is eying to receive more tourists in coming months

LATAM Airlines Records More Business From India Post-Covid

InterGlobe Air Transport, GSA for the LATAM Airlines Group in India organised a workshop for the travel trade in Mumbai. Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor on the sidelines of the event, Eduardo Patta, Sales Manager, Asia, LATAM Airlines Group, said that the purpose of the event is to showcase our product, route network and connectivity from India to South America. “We don’t fly directly to India. We use our interline partners for our passengers to reach our gateways from Europe and the USA. One can reach the LATAM network and fly to all the countries and destinations that we connect in Latin America,” said Patta. Talking about India, he said that the market is growing. “Currently, we sell more inventories in this market when compared with that of the pre-Covid period. However, there are increased possibilities. We truly believe in the potential of India, and the market offers an ocean of opportunities,” he pointed out. When asked what makes him think India as a potential market? Patta replied, “India’s economy is growing, and the local carriers have placed orders for aircraft which are significantly high. The Indian travellers now not just want to travel in one country rather they want to see an entire region. So, we feel the market will grow more and more in the days to come.” The airline deploys its Boeing 777-300 and 787 Dreamliners for long-haul flights. “The configuration our aircraft offer is a combination of Economy and Premium Business Class with first few rows of Economy being LATAM+ seats with more leg room. Delhi-Meerut RRTS: PM Modi to unveil 17 kms stretch of Rapid Rail on Oct 20. 10 things to know

The first phase covering 17 kms will cover five stations- Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and the Duhai Depot. The route will be fully operational in 2025. India's first regional train service RapidX is set to begin on a 17-kilometre stretch on Friday,i.e October 20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on that day in Ghaziabad. The complete corridor will be functional by 2025. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on October 12 had inspected the Sahibabad station of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project ahead of the opening. Here are 10 things you need to know about this high-speed regional rail service that will help you travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 60 minutes. 1. The RRTS is developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), a joint venture of the Government of India and governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Established as a result of a memorandum of understanding between the Centre and the four states on June 29, 2011, NCRTC was formally incorporated as a company on August 21, 2013. 2. In 2019, the construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor had begun. The first look of the RRTS train was unveiled a year later. 3. According to a document shared by the NCRTC, the RRTS is different from the Metro rail. It has an operational speed of 160 kilometres per hour against the Metro's speed of 80 kph. While a Metro train will take three hours to complete a 100 kilometres journey, an RRTS will traverse that distance in just an hour. 4. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor is the first RRTS project being implemented in India, and will be closely followed by the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors. 5. The total length of the Delhi-Meerut corridor is 82 kilometres which will be covered in just an hour. It comprises 24 stations. Nawanpind Sardaran village in Punjab receives Best Tourism Village Award for cultural heritage preservation

Nawanpind Sardaran village in Gurdaspur was selected for this coveted award for preserving and promoting Punjab's cultural heritage and sustainable development.They may be busy in their professional lives but five sisters, popularly known as the 'Sangha sisters', are passionate about maintaining their two ancestral houses at the Nawanpind Sardaran village here. Their hard work in preserving the two houses -- 'Kothi' and 'Pipal Haveli' -- paid off when their village recently bagged the Best Tourism Village of India 2023 from the Union Ministry of Tourism. The Nawanpind Sardaran village in Gurdaspur was selected for this coveted award for preserving and promoting Punjab's cultural heritage and sustainable development through tourism, officials said. A total of 750 villages from 31 states and union territories had applied for the best tourism village award 2023 and Nawanpind Sardaran got amongst the 35 selected ones. 'Kothi' and 'Pipal Haveli', built nearly 140 years ago and renovated a few years ago, have been converted into homestays and attract domestic and foreign tourists, officials said. "We are elated over getting the award," said their mother Satwant Kaur Sangha. Nawanpind Sardaran was founded by Narain Singh in the late 19th century. He built a 'Haveli' for residing, storing produce, agricultural implements and interacting with farm workers. In 1886, his son Beant Singh built a house which is now called ‘Kothi’ "We are emotionally connected to our village," said Gursimran Sangha. Her mother Satwant Kaur Sangha said she shifted to this village in Gurdaspur after her husband Captain Gurpreet Singh Sangha died in 1982. “I was into farming at that time in Gurdaspur.” She said her daughter Gurmeet Rai, who is a well-known conservation architect, suggested the renovation of the ancestral house around 15 years back. "That is how the journey began." Not only promoting rural tourism, the family with the support of the Gurdaspur district administration has also involved the local community and offering employment opportunities. Gursimran, who is based in Delhi, says she runs a goat farming business in the village and has involved local youths in it. She said she has plans to scale the goat farming. Gursimran visits the village every weekend to take care of their ancestral houses. Gita Sangha is also involved with women elf-help groups in the village for craft production. A brand called 'Bari collective' was created for craft production, said Gurmeet. Around 60 women in villages are into craft production. Besides, village women also get employment at –'Kothi' and 'Pipal Haveli', said Gurmeet.
