Cambodia’s Vet Airways Invests $50M in Electric Seaplanes for Eco Travel

Cambodia’s newly launched airline, Vet Airways, is setting out to transform regional transportation across Southeast Asia through a groundbreaking investment in clean aviation technology. On July 9, the airline signed a $50 million deal to acquire five electric-powered Noemi aircraft from Norwegian manufacturer Elfly Group. These nine-seat amphibious planes are designed to operate on both land and water, and will be used to connect Cambodia’s hard-to-reach coastal and river communities with a faster, more sustainable alternative to road travel. The airline, a new venture by Cambodian transportation firm Vireak Buntham Express, aims to bridge regional gaps in connectivity while reducing emissions and offering a smoother travel experience. Vireak Buntham already has a strong footprint in regional bus services across Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and an upcoming launch in Laos. The addition of air travel now brings a multi-modal approach to transportation in the region, with Vet Airways leading the way.
