Vietnam Railways Expands Ticket Sales for Vietnam–China Route
International train tickets for the Vietnam-China route will now be on sale throughout all railway stations in Vietnam.” The reopening was made after the service on the route connecting Hanoi with China’s Nanning, a key transit point on the way to the Gulf of Tonkin, was officially revived on May 25, 2025 following the pandemic-driven break. Before, train tickets could only be sold at a number of stations in Hanoi, Gia Lam, Bac Giang, Dong Dang. The positive change is featured to facilitate the purchase of tickets, which is about to offer the maximum flexibility for passengers flying between Vietnam and China.
The expansion is happening just as the demand for cross-border rail trips between the two countries is growing. In May 2025 it carried a low 183 passengers internationally, however that number shot up to 1,323 by June. From July 1 to July 16 a total of 1,227 travelers had ridden, demonstrating continued success and growth as passengers increasingly experience first-hand how convenient rail travel is.
