Oman Sees Tourism Surge with 90K Visitors to Al Jabal Al Akhdhar

Oman has reported a major surge in both domestic and regional tourism, with Al Jabal Al Akhdhar attracting close to ninety thousand visitors in the first half of the year alone. This growth reflects a rising demand for cooler high-altitude getaways during the Gulf’s peak summer months, fueled by improved accessibility, expanded hospitality options, and targeted tourism campaigns across neighboring GCC countries. As families and nature-seekers increasingly choose Oman for its climate, safety, and scenic landscapes, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar has emerged as a key driver of the country’s tourism growth in 2025. Oman’s popular mountain destination, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, witnessed a sharp rise in visitor numbers in the first half of 2025, welcoming nearly 89,700 tourists by the end of June. The data, released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), highlights the growing appeal of this high-altitude escape, especially during the summer months when temperatures in other parts of the Gulf soar. Located in the heart of the Hajar Mountains, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar continues to gain popularity among both domestic and regional travelers who are drawn to its cool climate, scenic landscapes, and expanding tourism infrastructure. As the Sultanate of Oman pushes forward with its national tourism strategy under Oman Vision 2040, destinations like Al Jabal Al Akhdhar are playing a pivotal role in redefining the country’s travel industry.
