Visit Malaysia 2026 Campaign Strengthens Tourism Links Between Malaysia and Indonesia
Tourism Malaysia has launched a high-profile tourism promotion mission in Indonesia, aiming to solidify ties and stimulate the flow of tourists for the much-anticipated Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign. The initiative kicked off in Surabaya, proceeded through Jakarta, and culminated in Medan, from April 24 to April 29, 2026. This landmark mission is a clear sign of Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to enhancing tourism relations with Indonesia, one of its largest regional partners.
Strengthening Malaysia’s Cultural and Tourism Appeal in Indonesia
The mission, designed to deepen the cultural and economic bonds between Malaysia and Indonesia, brought together a robust delegation of 50 organizations. These included prominent tourism bodies like Penang Global Tourism (PGT), Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H), Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), as well as a wide range of hotels, resorts, travel agencies, airlines, and hospitals. Their collective participation underscores Malaysia’s strategic push to promote a diverse array of tourism experiences—from heritage tourism to health and wellness, while highlighting the strengths of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The presence of YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in Jakarta during the mission further emphasizes the importance of the Indonesian market for Malaysia’s tourism growth. His involvement in the mission reflects Malaysia’s dedication to fostering deeper connections within Southeast Asia, which continues to be a core pillar of Malaysia’s tourism strategy.
