Delhi Metro Adds Extra Trips to Ease Peak-Hour Travel
Delhi Metro has introduced extra weekly train trips along with upgraded station facilities to improve commuter movement during peak travel hours as passenger demand continues to rise across Delhi NCR. The expanded services, additional security arrangements, more ticket counters, and enhanced passenger handling systems are aimed at reducing overcrowding, easing rush hour congestion, and encouraging more residents to choose public transport over private vehicles.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is set to increase train operations from May 18 by introducing additional services every Monday across selected corridors in Delhi-NCR. The move is part of a wider effort to promote public transportation, reduce fuel consumption, and encourage commuters to shift away from private vehicles during peak travel periods.
Under the revised operational plan, DMRC will add 24 extra train trips each Monday through the deployment of six additional trains on various Metro routes. The decision comes as passenger movement continues to rise across the network, particularly at the start of the workweek when offices, schools, and commercial establishments reopen after the weekend.
Authorities expect the added services to ease congestion during peak hours and improve passenger flow across some of the busiest sections of the Metro network. Monday mornings and evenings often witness high ridership levels, with office employees, students, and daily travelers depending heavily on Metro connectivity for routine commuting.
