Vietnam & Laos Launch Tourism & Culture Partnership

Vietnam and Laos strengthen cultural and tourism ties for 2026–2030, launching heritage projects, arts exchanges, festivals, and tourism initiatives to boost regional collaboration and travel experiences. Vietnam and Laos are embarking on an ambitious journey to deepen cultural and tourism cooperation from 2026 to 2030, building on a strong foundation established over the previous five years. Following extensive discussions in Vientiane, the two nations outlined strategies to enhance artistic collaboration, heritage preservation, and tourism exchanges. This renewed partnership is poised to offer travellers a richer, more immersive experience of Southeast Asia’s cultural tapestry, while reinforcing the longstanding special relationship between these neighbouring countries. The framework for this collaboration emphasises cultural festivals, artistic performances, and commemorative events that have already strengthened bilateral ties. Over 2021–2025, initiatives such as cultural weeks, exhibitions, and traditional music and dance performances have showcased the vibrancy of Vietnamese and Lao heritage. These activities have not only highlighted the unique artistic expressions of each country but also enhanced mutual understanding and tourism interest, drawing visitors eager to explore shared histories and traditions. Looking ahead, both nations are prioritising exchanges between cultural institutions and tourism sectors. Planned initiatives include reciprocal delegation visits, collaborative art and music projects, and coordinated efforts in preserving heritage sites, museums, and libraries. The Vietnam–Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2027 will serve as a focal point for these activities, with special attention given to events that showcase the historical and contemporary evolution of each country’s culture. This strategic approach aims to make cultural tourism a key pillar of regional economic and social development.
