Sports Tourism from India Enters a New Growth Era
With weeks to go before FIFA Football World Cup 2026 gets underway, all eyes are on the sports tourism market in India, which has been among the fastest growing markets in the world, clocking double digit growth year-on-year. Though cricket continues to dominate the segment, an increasing number of Indians are now also attending Formula 1 car races as well as football and tennis matches, opening a new arena for travel services firms to play in.
Two months before the referee signals the kick off of the first match of FIFA Football World Cup 2026, Monish Shah, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, DreamSetGo, says his company has not only already scored its goal, but also won the match against its rivals.
DreamSetGo is one of the largest Indian sports tourism companies that packages tours around major sporting competitions around the world, ranging from cricket and Formula 1 races to football and tennis matches. It is also one of the three companies in India that have been appointed as official resellers of hospitality packages for the FIFA Football World Cup that will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States, with the US hosting a large chunk of matches, including the final at New York-New Jersey stadium on July 19.
