Italy and India Launch 2027 Year of Culture and Tourism Partnership
Italy and India have joined forces to designate 2027 as the Year of Culture and Tourism, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening historic ties and fostering deeper connections between the two nations. The announcement comes as both countries seek to expand economic and strategic partnerships through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), while simultaneously promoting people-to-people engagement, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. By combining efforts in trade, investment, connectivity, and cultural diplomacy, Italy and India aim to create a platform that not only celebrates their rich civilizational heritage but also positions their partnership as a model for global collaboration in the 21st century.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced a renewed commitment to develop the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), describing it as a pivotal initiative that could transform trade, investment, and connectivity between the regions. In a joint press briefing held in Rome, the two leaders also unveiled plans to celebrate 2027 as the “Year of Culture and Tourism” between the two countries, a move aimed at fostering stronger cultural engagement alongside economic collaboration.
