South Korea Unveils Major Summer Tourism Voucher Program
A large-scale domestic tourism subsidy program has been announced in South Korea, with the aim of encouraging increased travel to rural and depopulating regions during the summer of 2026. The initiative has been introduced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (South Korea) as part of a broader strategy to stimulate regional economies and promote balanced national tourism development.
The rollout of South Korea’s domestic tourism subsidy 2026, 2026 Summer Lodging Sale Festa South Korea vouchers, rural tourism revitalization South Korea policy, and Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Korea travel incentives has reflected a focused effort to redirect tourism demand beyond the capital region and toward underpopulated areas.
Under this initiative, 300,000 lodging discount coupons have been distributed as part of the 2026 Summer Lodging Sale Festa, with the objective of making travel and accommodation more affordable for domestic travelers while supporting local businesses in economically challenged regions.
Government Targets Rural Regions Facing Population Decline
The subsidy program has been strategically designed to support 85 regions across South Korea that have been identified as facing population decline.
