Etihad Expands Network with New Abu Dhabi–Damascus Route
Etihad Airways has strengthened its Middle East network with the introduction of new direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Damascus, marking a strategic step to enhance regional air connectivity and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a key global aviation hub. The launch responds to increasing passenger demand from the Syrian community in the UAE, along with steady growth in business and family travel between the two capitals. By restoring a direct air link to Damascus and integrating it into its wider international network, the airline is improving access across the Levant while supporting broader regional aviation growth through stronger capacity, efficient operations and expanded global connections.
The airline will operate four flights per week between Abu Dhabi and Damascus, scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The operation will be served using the Airbus A321 aircraft, a narrow-body jet designed to balance passenger comfort with fuel efficiency on medium-haul routes.
The introduction of this service reflects a broader push by the carrier to expand its footprint across high-demand regional corridors while also improving access between key cultural and economic centres in the Middle East.
