Switzerland Tourism Up 2% on Overnight Stays
Switzerland is expected to see increased tourism in 2026 as visitor numbers rise by over two percent with more overnight stays. Switzerland tourism is set to boom in 2026 as a result of more visitors being recorded than in previous years. Consequently, the number of overnight visitors in Switzerland rose by 2.1 percent in January and February 2026, according to the UN Tourism .
The early growth highlights Switzerland’s successful strategy of transforming itself from a traditional winter holiday destination into a complete four-season travel destination. The country is attracting visitors with snow-covered mountains, scenic rail journeys, wellness experiences, outdoor adventures, historic cities and sustainable travel options.
Switzerland’s tourism sector is focusing on quality growth by encouraging longer stays, increasing visitor spending and creating tourism opportunities across different regions. The country is not only aiming to welcome more travellers but also building a stronger tourism model that balances economic growth with environmental protection.
