Air India's Boeing 787-8 Upgrades Signal a New Fleet Era
Air India is currently in the midst of a historic transformation of its fleet. The Tata Group-owned airline will modernize 16 more Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners in 2027, and will also fly at least 100 new aircraft under the new Air India Group. The first stage of Air India’s fleet modernization plan will include the upgrades to 16 additional Dreamliners and strengthen its existing routes. Passengers will experience even better long haul travel once these aircraft hit the skies. The upgrades will be paired with an even larger effort on the part of the Tata Group to grow Air India Group’s capacity by 100 new aircraft in 2027 and 2028. These new additions to Air India’s fleet will help strengthen Air India’s international presence and better compete against other airlines, but the plan is ambitious even considering everything that’s currently going on in the aviation market.
