Goa seeks more direct flights to boost tourism
Goa has for years been a popular destination for domestic and international tourists and the recent charter flights that are landing in the state highlight a strong interest from visitors from countries like Poland, Russia, Kazakhstan and multiple other destinations. Known for its rich cultural heritage, and a variety of adventure activities, Goa offers an ideal blend of relaxation and hip activities that appeal to European travellers.
Additionally, the state's diverse local festivals, vibrant nightlife, and unique cuisine add to its allure, making it a sought-after escape compared to similar tropical destinations in Asia.
Moreover, an increase in flight capacity and introduction of direct international and domestic flights is what the state's tourism department stressed will boost footfalls in Goa. The tourism department has requested the central government to increase flights to the sunny state.
"Increasing flight capacity to Goa, particularly with more direct international and domestic routes, is expected to boost tourism by enhancing accessibility and reducing travel time for visitors. The improved connectivity supports Goa's growing appeal as a year-round destination, an official of the Tourism Department told CNBC-TV18.
