Namma Metro Yellow Line to Transform Bengaluru’s Public Transport by 2025

Bengaluru is all set to transform its urban transportation network with the much-awaited launch of the Namma Metro Yellow Line, scheduled for late January 2025. This 19.15 km metro line will connect RV Road to Bommasandra, enhancing the commuting experience for thousands of residents. With an investment of ₹5,745 crore, the Yellow Line promises to improve access to key areas such as Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City, making travel across the southern industrial and residential parts of the city faster and more efficient. One of the most remarkable features of the Yellow Line is the Jayadeva Hospital station, which is set to become India’s tallest metro station at a height of 39 meters. This six-level structure will serve as an interchange hub for the Yellow and Pink Lines. It will feature an underpass, road, flyover, concourse, and platforms, ensuring smooth and seamless travel for passengers. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has confirmed that three trains will initially operate on the Yellow Line, with a 30-minute interval between trains. By August 2025, this will expand to 36 trains, including 15 six-coach sets. The trains will combine international expertise and domestic manufacturing, with some units being produced in China and others in West Bengal.
