Meghalaya to host 9-day ‘Meghalaya Age Festival’ to boost tourism in the region

Meghalaya will be hosting a 9-day Meghalaya Age Festival to promote high-end tourism in the region. The Meghalaya Tourism Department will be organising this festival to ensure Meghalaya scores high in the tourism circuit. Latest reports state that the festival will be held in the scenic Thadlaskein area, situated in West Jaintia Hills in the second week of March. Referring to this, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma stated that this event will be hosted to promote the brand Meghalaya to its ultimate high-end tourism potential. The Chief Minister also added that the fest will be held in the second week of March tentatively from March 6 or 7, and will be held for a period of nine days. As per his statements, the highlights of this event will be glamping, hot air balloons, and caving. While glamping will be held in Meghalaya for the first time, around 50 five-star luxury tents will be set up for visitors, which will come equipped with all high-end features. The Chief Minister further mentioned that they want to promote Meghalaya in a very big way and that the Meghalaya Age Festival is just the beginning of their ambitious tourism plan.

Carnival Magic’s 2021 Sailing Schedule Revealed

In total, Carnival Magic will sail from four cities across two continents, visiting 33 different destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, Bermuda, The Bahamas, New England and Canada next year. The Carnival cruise ship will depart from Miami on March 13, 2021, and arrive in Barcelona on March 27, marking the beginning of the vessel’s 2021 European schedule. The ship will then undergo a two-week-long dry dock followed by a series of seven- and eight-day Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona through April 25. A new place to explore : Govt. plans ‘nature paths’ in Chamba to boost tourism

In a move to attract more tourists to less-explored Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the state government recently proposed that trekking routes will be developed there under the MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme. Chamba, known for its scenic locations and natural beauty, will in the near future have trekking routes developed to woo more travellers in this region. The trek routes will be promoted as ‘nature paths,’ and it is hoped that this initiative will attract more income and business to villages in Chamba. Latest reports suggest that there are also plans to popularise home stays in these Chamba villages from where the nature paths will pass through. The tourism authorities will also lend a helping hand to the villagers to help them turn their homes into comfortable home stays.

AirAsia announces Ahmedabad route

AirAsia announced a new direct route to Ahmedabad from Kuala Lumpur with four times weekly flights commencing 29 April 2020. These new services will support a vast market of 62 million people in the Western state of Gujarat in India. This follows the Indian government’s announcement late last year to reduce the country’s electronic tourist visa fees from USD 100 (1-year multiple-entry tourist e-visa) to USD 10 (30-days tourist e-visa for April to June; USD 25 for July to March) for all eligible Malaysians, lowering the minimum visa cost by 90% for Malaysian tourists. Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X in Malaysia said: “India has never been more affordable so there is no better time to travel. We are running some of our biggest sales yet to every India destination we fly to, including this new route from Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad.
