Delhi-Noida-Ghaziabad border traffic advisory: Routes to avoid

Amidst the anticipated farmers' protest scheduled for Tuesday, the police commissionerate of Gautam Buddh Nagar has taken preemptive measures by issuing a comprehensive traffic advisory. With the aim of maintaining public safety and order, authorities have announced stringent vehicle inspections for all travelers passing through Gautam Buddh Nagar en route to its borders with Delhi. The heightened security measures come as part of the authorities' efforts to regulate traffic flow and ensure compliance with regulations during the protest period. This proactive approach reflects the commitment of law enforcement to uphold peace and security in the region, as tensions remain elevated due to the ongoing protests. NH-44 beyond Singhu Border is closed for general traffic, affecting connected roads to NH-44 like those leading to Sonipat/Panipat. At Ghazipur Border, 2 lanes of NH-9 and 1 lane of NH-24 are open for public use, along with 2 lanes of DND. Despite this, slow traffic is expected, especially during peak hours, so commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid these areas if possible. The police have recommended utilizing metro services to mitigate inconvenience caused by traffic diversions. They have also imposed restrictions on various types of vehicles, including goods vehicles traveling to Delhi via Yamuna Expressway to Noida/Greater Noida Expressway, as well as vehicles heading to Surajpur via Sira and Parichowk. The 'Delhi Chalo March,' orchestrated by approximately 200 farmers' unions and a significant number of farmers, is slated to arrive in the national capital on February 13. The march comprises participants from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

Egypt opens newly restored tomb of Neferhotep in Luxor for tourists after more than two decades of restoration

The opening of Neferhotep tomb introduces a significant new tourist destination to the attractions of Luxor's West Bank, as tourists surge to Egypt. After more than two decades of restoration, the tomb of Neferhotep, the great 18th Dynasty (1550-1292 BC) scribe of Amun, was officially opened on Sunday. According to Ahram Online, the tomb, located in the Al-Khokha area on Luxor's West Bank, was opened during a ceremony by Mostafa Waziry, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, Argentina's ambassador to Cairo. "Today's opening of the tomb introduces a significant new tourist destination to the attractions of Luxor's West Bank, particularly amidst the surge of tourists to the country during the winter season," Waziry said, adding that the tomb displays beautifully painted scenes and inscriptions. The restoration of the tomb began in 2000. A mission from Buenos Aires University in Argentina was responsible for recording and studying the tomb's epigraphic and archaeological aspects, while a German archaeological team carried out the conservation and cleaning of the wall paintings.

Highlighting the glaring gap in the fares in these metros, she wrote on X, "It’s entirely possible that I’ll finish all my travel within Chennai for less than 50 per cent of the cost of an airport cab to Bangalore." She further elaborated on how individuals can complete their travels within Chennai for less than 50 per cent of the cost of a simple airport cab to Bengaluru. Sharing her experience with the Chennai Metro, the woman wrote on X, "The journey from Kodambakkam to Vadapalani cost around Rs. 60, taking 20 minutes amid noisy traffic. However, the Vadapalani metro ride to the airport was only Rs. 24 and provided 26 minutes of peaceful, air-conditioned comfort." Upon reaching the airport, a 20-minute walk from T2 to T4 awaited her. She noted, "When public transport works, IT REALLY WORKS." In the subsequent thread, she further detailed her total cost. A round trip between Bengaluru Airport and Koramangala costs Rs. 3200 by cab. In contrast, using a combination of suburban rail, metro, auto, and cab services in Chennai for the entire day totals to a mere Rs. 144. Furthermore, considering cab rides near Egmore, Kodambakkam, Chetpet, and Nungambakkam in Chennai, the total expense sums up to Rs. 600. In essence, the woman claimed, the airport fare alone in Bangalore amounts to Rs. 3200, the cumulative expenses for a day's travel in Chennai stand at just Rs. 744.
