Vistara Starts Daily Direct Flights Between Delhi And Maldives

Vistara has started daily, non-stop flights between Delhi and Maldives. The inaugural flight, operated by an Airbus A320neo aircraft, departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi at 10:45 Hours (IST) and arrived at Velana International Airport, Maldives Airport at 14:20 Hours (MVT). With this, Vistara now offers direct daily flights connecting Maldives with two Indian airports – Delhi and Mumbai. Speaking on this, Vinod Kannan, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “In addition to the 7x weekly service between Mumbai and Male, which has been getting very good response since its launch in March 2021, we are pleased to introduce our second route connecting this exquisite beach destination with Delhi. Maldives has evolved as one of the most popular leisure destinations for Indian travellers and we are happy to be able to offer more choices and flexibility to our customers on this route. We are confident that customers will appreciate having the option of flying with India’s most loved airline when travelling to or from Male.” Vistara accepts all eligible customers meeting visa/entry requirements in both countries, as specified by the respective government bodies. Goa tourism is moving beyond beaches

You would be amazed at how much history resides within a few square kilometres of central Panjim, to be precise the Campal area. Mugdha Pawar, the erudite storyteller of the heritage tour firm Make It Happen, opened our eyes to it as we passed by historical landmarks during the Campal Heritage Walk. As she did this, events of the past revealed themselves and lent a better understanding of today’s Goa. The state government’s move to take Goa tourism beyond beaches has seen heritage walks, eco-adventures and other such experience tourism gaining popularity. So, it was not surprising that the tiny coastal state, as a part of its celebration to mark World Tourism Day on Wednesday (September 27), decided to take students of the Institute of Hotel Management, V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education and Don Bosco College on a heritage walk. It was organised by the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), SKAL-Goa and Goa Tourism. The heritage tour kicked off from Kala Academy, once a thriving hub of Goa’s art and culture, at 8 am and meandered through the lanes and bylanes of Panjim. In two hours, Pawar made several pitstops at historical monuments and buildings to explain their significance in Goa’s past of over 450 years. She did this by engaging the students, most of whom were from outside the state; prodding and nudging them to be more participative and emotive. Mostly succeeding in arousing their interest in her narrative on Goa’s history. The layout of this part of Panjim, which was built under the supervision of Viceroy Dom Manuel in 1843 when the Portuguese decided to shift their capital from old Goa to Panjim, is based on the blueprint of Lisbon – the capital of Portugal. It was transformed from a marshy land to a neatly laid out city with amenities that exist even today. To connect villages around the area, Manuel constructed six bridges. These bridges have withstood the ravages of times and have traffic plying over them even today.

Himachal: 23 ropeway projects proposed to ease congestion and boost tourism

The Himachal Pradesh state government has proposed construction of 23 ropeway projects across the state, aiming to enhance tourism and ease congestion in urban areas through alternative transportation solutions. Referring to this, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who also oversees the transport portfolio, mentioned that two ropeway projects, Baglamukhi and Palchan-Rohtang, are already in progress, with a combined cost of INR 388.65 crore. Additionally, among the proposed projects for Kangra district, the 3.5 km Bir-Billing aerial tramway is expected to cost INR 156 crore, with bids already invited for construction through public-private partnership (PPP). If reports are to go by, another project planned for Kangra district is the 13.05 km ropeway between Bhatarka and Thathri, estimated at INR 585.27 crore. The state has requested its inclusion in the Centre's Parvatmala scheme, and bids have been invited for this project. A 6.5 km ropeway is also proposed for Adi Himani Chamunda in Dharamshala, with an estimated cost of INR 289 crore. Pre-feasibility studies and a draft conceptual plan for innovative transport solutions in major tourist towns, such as Shimla, Manali, and Dharamshala have already been completed. The request for a proposal for ropeway development in Shimla Phase-I under PPP mode has been issued, with a 22 km-long ropeway estimated at INR 1,200 crore. Financial bids for consultancy services to prepare detailed project reports (DPR) for ropeway connectivity to Killar in Pangi valley via Sach Pass in Chamba district have been opened, which will be developed in eight stages with an approximate length of 21.8 km. Furthermore, financial bids have been opened, and work for the Narkanda-Hatu peak ropeway will also start, the tentative length of this ropeway will be 3.1km, with an estimated cost of INR 172 crore. A request for a proposal for the Mata Baglamukhi temple ropeway from Chandigarh-Manali national highway near Pandoh reservoir up to the temple in Mandi district has also been issued. Moreover, a company has been assigned consultancy work for the identification, planning, and preparation of techno-commercial feasibility reports for the overhead mass rapid transit system in Himachal, excluding Manali, Dharamshala, and Shimla. An expression of interest-cum-financial bid for three passenger ropeways, namely Shirgul Mahadev Temple in Sirmaur, Jabli-Kasauli aerial tramway in Solan, and Pundrik Rishi Temple in Mandi, has also been initiated.

Moscow tourism committee chairman aims to double tourist flow between India-Moscow

Speaking on India-Moscow Tourism Relations and after the meeting with Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, Chairman of Moscow City Tourism Committee, First Deputy Head of Office Mayor & Government of Moscow, Evgeny Kozlov on September 29 said that they have aimed to double the tourist flow between the countries. “We should work a little bit harder to establish a deeper connection between Moscow and India because we have so much potential to show to our people the really true history and depths of our culture. I hope that from next year, we will double the tourist flow between the two of our countries… The discussion (with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy) was about the readiness to establish new direct flights to Moscow and St Petersburg. We discussed that there are a lot of possibilities to from India to Russia, by e-Visa possibilities...”
