UPI Launches in Japan — Easier Payments for Indian Tourists
Indian tourists visiting Japan will soon enjoy the convenience of making payments via UPI, thanks to a new partnership between NPCI and NTT DATA Japan. This move addresses the growing demand for a seamless, secure, and familiar payment solution, allowing Indian visitors to make faster transactions while enhancing their overall travel experience in Japan.
Indian travellers visiting Japan may soon be able to use the widely popular Unified Payment Interface (UPI) system for their transactions. This exciting development follows a new partnership between NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and NTT DATA Japan, a prominent player in Japan’s IT and business services sector. The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on making UPI payments accessible to Indian tourists in Japan, marking a significant milestone in the integration of India’s digital payment infrastructure abroad
