Singapore National Museum Launches Immersive Exhibitions Tracing 60 Years of History

Singapore — To commemorate Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence, the National Museum of Singapore (NMS) has launched two remarkable new exhibitions that chronicle the nation’s incredible transformation from a humble settlement to a thriving global metropolis. These immersive, multimedia-driven experiences offer visitors an unparalleled look into Singapore’s past, capturing key moments from its early maritime roots to its present-day status as an economic powerhouse. The exhibitions, Once Upon a Tide: Singapore’s Journey from Settlement to Global City and Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time, explore Singapore’s evolution in a creative, engaging, and highly interactive format. Visitors will be able to experience the nation’s rich history through cutting-edge technology, historical artifacts, and experiential storytelling. The Singapore Odyssea experience is an awe-inspiring multimedia adventure that brings Singapore’s vibrant history to life. Located in the Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda, this exhibit allows visitors to step back in time using an innovative RFID-enabled wristband, which “adopts” one of nine Magical Companions inspired by the country’s native fauna. These companions guide guests through the gallery and activate hidden layers of content, enhancing their understanding of Singapore’s historical journey.
